During the year Maruti sold 764,862 vehicles up 13.2% and exported 53,204 units worldwide.

Maruti operates 429 sales outlets and 2,628 service centers in 238 cities and 1,220 cities respectively across India.

ACC Limited earnings edge slightly higher

ACC Limited reported a slight increase of 0.53% in net profit in the first quarter 2008 ended in March to 357.54 crore rupees on 7.68% increase in total sales to 1,861.37 crore rupees the first quarter ended March 2008 compared to a year ago.

Net operating sales in the quarter rose to 1,795 crore rupees from 1,675 crore rupees a year ago. Net profit in the period rose to 357.54 crore rupees compared to 355.65 crore rupees.

Earnings per share in the first quarter rose to 19.06 rupees from 18.90 rupees a year ago.

For the fiscal year ended in December 2007, net operating sales increased to 7,007 crore rupees and net income after tax was reported at 1,438 crore rupees. For the year earnings per share was reported at 76.45 rupees.


Reliance Update

Reliance Energy declined 2.4% to 1,311.10 rupees and Reliance Communications lost 3.5% to 529.50 rupees.

Reliance Industries fell 0.2% to 2,573 rupees. According to news reports RIL has formed a joint venture with Office Depot to provide office products and services in India.
