Alberto Culver Company, the manufacturer of personal care products reported fourth quarter sales fell 0.2% to $385.2 million from $386 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 78.5% to $31.7 million or 32 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $147.1 million or $1.48 per share a year ago.

Net sales for the fiscal year 2009 fell 0.7% to $1.43 billion from $1.44 billion a year ago. Net income for the year fell 47.7% to $119.4 million or $1.20 per diluted share compared to net income of $228.2 million or $2.27 per share a year ago.
