MMS: chart), government services provider, said that its fourth-quarter net income declined 73% and a loss of $10 million of revenue were from certain software licenses. Profit was $2 million, or 9 cents per share, down from $7.4 million, or 34 cents per share, in the year-earlier period. Revenue climbed 2.7% to $171.8 million from $167.3 million in the same quarter last year.
Whittier Energy Corp. (
WHIT: chart), oil and gas company, said that its third-quarter net income fell to $1.8 million, or 14 cents per share, compared to $2.4 million, or 19 cents per, earned in the same period last year. Revenue climbed to $11.4 million from $9.6 million.
Tyco International Ltd. (
TYC: chart), high-tech manufacturing and services conglomerate, said that its net income increased to $1.27 billion, or 62 cents per share, versus $917 million, or 44 cents per share, in the final three months a year ago. Revenue climbed to $10.76 billion from $9.94 billion in the year-ago quarter.
Steak N Shake Co. (
SNS: chart), restaurant chain, said that its fourth-quarter net earnings declined to $7.5 million, or 27 cents per share, compared with $8.66 million, or 31 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Revenue increased to $152 million from $145.7 million in the same quarter a year earlier.
TII Network Technologies Inc. (
TIII: chart), network protection and management products provider, said that its third-quarter net earnings fell to $399,000, or 3 cents per share, versus $1.52 million, or 12 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Revenue declined to $10.5 million from $11 million in the same quarter last year.
Daktronics Inc. (
DAKT: chart), electronic display systems maker, said that its second-quarter net earnings increased to $8.89 million, or 22 cents per share, versus $5.19 million, or 13 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Revenue climbed to $123.5 million from $75.8 million in the year-ago period.
Tween Brands (
TWB: chart), clothing retailer, said its third-quarter net income rose to $19 million, or 58 cents per share, from $16 million, or 48 cents per share. Revenue increased to $230.5 million from $203.5 million in the same quarter a year ago.
Talbots Inc. (
TLB: chart), clothing store chain, said that its third-quarter net income declined to $8.1 million, or 15 cents per share, compared to a year-ago profit of $20 million, or 37 cents per share. Revenue increased to $568.6 million from $426.3 million in the same period a year earlier. Same-store sales increased 2.3% for the third quarter.
