Computer and printer maker Hewlett-Packard announced a 30% rise in its quarterly profits, boosted by strong demand for its printers and imaging products. Revenue rose above analysts’ expectations.

King Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (KG: chart) of Bristol, Tennessee, said Thursday it earned $42 million, or 17 cents per share, in its fiscal fourth quarter, compared with a loss of $31.4 million, or 13 cents a share, in the same quarter of 2002. The drug maker recorded revenue of $382.6 million in the quarter, up 41% from $272 million a year ago. King said acquisitions helped boost the results.

The stock soared 14.18% to $19.25 at market close Thursday. King shares dropped 2 cents to $19.23 in after-hours trading.
