Casella Waste Systems, a garbage collector and recycler first quarter sales rose 6.3% to $157.9 million and net income rose 23% to $2.2 million or 8 cents a share. Casey’s General Stores, a convenience store operator first quarter revenues rose 22% to $1.57 billion and net income fell 3% to $28.8 million or 57 cents a share. H&R Block, the largest tax preparer first quarter revenues fell 12.24% to $339.6 million and net loss was $132.7 million or 41 cents a share.

Casella Waste Systems, Inc, a garbage collector and recycler said first quarter sales rose 6.3% to $157.9 million from $148.5 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter rose 23% to $2.2 million or 8 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $1.7 million or 7 cents per share, a year ago.

Casella Waste Systems, Inc (CWST: chart) in the last one year traded as high as $16.20 in November 2007 and as low as $9.64 in March 2008. Based on the yesterday’s closing price the company has a market cap of $333.70 million.

Casey’s General Stores, Inc, convenience store operator said first quarter revenues rose 22% to $1.57 billion from $1.28 billion a year ago. Net income in the quarter fell 3% to $28.8 million or 57 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $29.8 million or 59 cents per share, a year ago.

Comparable same-store sales rose 4.7%.

Casey’s General Stores, Inc (CASY: chart) in the last one year traded as high as $31.39 in December 2007 and as low as $19.97 in June 2008. Based on the yesterday’s closing price the company has a market cap of $1.45 billion.

H&R Block, Inc, the nation''s largest tax preparer said first quarter revenues fell 12.24% to $339.6 million from $381.2 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $132.7 million or 41 cents per diluted share compared to net loss of $302.6 million or 93 cents per share, a year ago.

H&R Block, Inc (HRB: chart) in the last one year traded as high as $26.66 in September 2008 and as low as $16.89 in January 2008. Based on the yesterday’s closing price the company has a market cap of $8.72 billion.
