Gilat Satellite Net Income Quadrupled

Canadian Solar narrowed its first-quarter loss, as sales picked up strength across the globe. Gulfport Energy quarterly profit rose as well as the company’s revenue. Magic Software Enterprises first-quarter net earnings increased on company’s revenue growth. Gilat Satellite Networks first-quarter net income quadrupled on 16% higher revenue.

 
Canadian Solar Inc. (CSIQ: chart), solar module maker, posted a first-quarter net loss of $3.85 million, or 14 cents per share, compared with a net loss of $7.07 million, or 46 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Revenue climbed to $17.5 million versus $8.8 million in the comparable period last year. The company forecasts second-quarter revenue of $55 million to $58 million.

Gulfport Energy Corp. (GPOR: chart), oil and gas company, said that its first-quarter net earnings increased to $7.29 million, or 21 cents per share, compared with $2.83 million, or 8 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Revenue climbed to $20.4 million versus $4.46 million in the comparable period last year.

Magic Software Enterprises Ltd. (MGIC: chart), engages in the development, marketing, and support of application development and deployment platforms, said that its first-quarter net earnings increased to $1 million, or 3 cents per share, compared with a profit of $30,000, or breakeven per share, in the year-ago period. The company said revenue climbed to $16.35 million from $16.19 million last year.

Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. (GILT: chart), satellite-networking technology and services provider, said that its first-quarter net income quadrupled on 16% higher revenue. Profit increased to $4.9 million, or 12 cents per share, compared with $1.2 million, or a nickel per share, in the year-earlier quarter. Revenue climbed to $68 million versus $58.6 million in the same period a year earlier.
