Estee Lauder, Molson Coors Rise

Molson Coors Brewing Company today reported first quarter 2008 net sales increased 10.4% to $1.36 million from a year ago. Net income in the quarter increased to $37.1 million or 20 cents per share. However, MGM Mirage revenue fell 3% to $1.88 billion. Estee Lauder net sales rose 11% but earnings declined 4%. Church & Dwight revenue rose 9% and earnings surged more than 22%.

AngloGold Ashanti Limited, a precious metals mining company reported first quarter production increased 9% to 1.2 million ounces, higher than previous guidance provided in February 2008. Net income in the quarter was $105 million. During the quarter, AngloGold Ashanti reduced its hedge commitments from 11.28 Moz to 10.03 Moz. The net delta hedge position was reduced by 1.13 Moz to 9.26 Moz as at 31 March 2008.

The company increased its gold production 2008 outlook to a range of 4.9Moz and 5.1Moz, up from prior guidance of 4.8Moz to 5.0Moz. Total cash costs are expected to be in a range of $440/oz and $460/oz, based on the following exchange rate assumptions: R/$7.88, A$/$0.91, BRL/$1.71 and Argentinean peso/$ 3.16.

AngloGold stock (AU: chart) surged more than 10% to $38.26.

NYSE Euronext, a holding company created by the combination of NYSE Group, Inc. and Euronext N.V. today reported revenues rose 53% to $1.29 billion (or 830 million euros) from $702 million a year earlier. Net income increased 238% to $230 million or 87 cents per diluted share compared to net income of $68 million or 43 cents per share, a year ago.

NYSE Euronext stock (NYX: chart) gained 3.5% or $2.96 to $71.05.

MetroPCS Communications, Inc, a wireless services provider reported first quarter revenues rose 28% to $662 million from $536 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $40 million or $0.11 per share, compared to $36 million or 11 cents per share for the same period a year ago. Average revenue per subscriber declined to $42.22 from $43.75 in the same period a year ago. The company increased net subscribers by 137,011 to 2.795 million at the end of the quarter.

MetroPCS stock (PCS: chart) fell 86 cents to $19.16.

The St. Joe Company, a real estate developer reported first quarter 2008 total revenues increased 18.6% to $116.8 million compared to $95 million a year ago. Net Income increased to $32.1 million or $0.40 per share, compared to net income of $19.7 million or $0.27 per share, a year ago.

St Joe stock (JOE: chart) fell 30 cents to $41.71.

D.R. Horton, Inc, a homebuilder today reported second quarter fiscal 2008 revenue decreased 65% to $1.6 billion compared to $2.6 billion compared to a year ago.

Net loss in the quarter was $1.31 billion or $4.14 per share compared with profit of $51.7 million, or 16 cents per share in the same period a year ago.

D.R. Horton (DHI: chart) increased 44 cents $16.41.

Great Wolf Resorts, Inc, a resort operator reported first quarter 2008 revenues increased 6.3% to $175.6 million compared to $165.2 million a year ago. Net loss in the quarter was $2.3 million or 8 cents per diluted share compared to a net loss of $2.0 million or 7 cents per share a year ago.

Great Wolf (WOLF: chart) stock rose 31 cents to $7.51.

Bill Barrett Corporation, a natural gas and crude oil explorer today reported first quarter 2008 revenues increased 34% to $149.2 million compared to $98.3 million a year ago. Net income in the quarter was $30.7 million or $0.68 per diluted common share compared with $14.2 million or $0.32 per common share a year ago.

Bill Barrett stock (BBG: chart) rose $4.59 to $55.35.

Church & Dwight Co., Inc, a personal care and household products developer reported revenues rose 8% to $552.9 million from $514.3 million last year. Net income rose to $56.2 million, or 81 cents per share, from $45.1 million, or 66 cents per share last year.

Church & Dwight stock (CHD: chart) fell 89 cents to $55.18.

The Estee Lauder Companies Inc, A maker of skin care and personal care products reported third quarter 2008 net sales increased 11% to $1.88 billion from $1.69 billion in the prior-year quarter. Net income in the quarter was $90.1 million, or diluted per share for the quarter was $0.46, or compared to $93.9, or $.45 diluted per share reported in the prior year.
