Centex revenue declined 36% in the fourth quarter and loss rose to $908 million or $7.34 per share. Las Vegas Sands, operator of casinos in Las Vegas and China earnings declined to $23.6 million from $114.6 million or earnings per share fell to 7 cents from 32 cents. Online market place for commercial real estate operator, LoopNet reported earnings per share of 12 cents compared to 11 cents a year ago. Akamai earnings per share doubled to 20 cents from 11 cents a year ago.

 
Las Vegas stock (LVS: chart) fell $7.30 to $68.94.

LoopNet, Inc an online marketplace for commercial real estate said revenue for the first quarter of 2008 was $20.6 million, an increase of 33% from $15.5 million in the first quarter of 2007.

Net income in the quarter increased to $4.9 million or $0.12 per diluted share, compared to $4.5 million or $0.11 per diluted share in the year ago.

LoopNet stock (LOOP: chart) increased $1.06 to $12.35.

Morton''s Restaurant Group, Inc steak restaurant chain that caters to business traveller said first quarter revenues rose 6.2% to $94.4 Million from $88.9 Million. Same store sales rose 0.7%.

Net income in the quarter was $2.4 million, or $0.14 per diluted share compared to net income of $5.0 million, or $0.29 per share a year ago.

Morton’s stock (MRT: chart) rose 54 cents to $8.53 in today’s trading and has traded between $20 and $6.55 in the last twelve months of trading.

National Oilwell Varco, Inc, a provider of equipment and components used in oil and gas drilling said revenues for the first quarter increased 24% to $2.68 billion from the first quarter 2007 of same period.

Net income increased to $397.6 million or $1.11 per fully diluted share compared to fourth quarter ended December 31, 2007 income of $376.7 million or $1.05 per fully diluted share. Earnings per share increased 42% compared to the first quarter of 2007, when the company earned $275.9 million or $0.78 per fully diluted share.

National Oilwell Varco stock (NOV: chart) stock traded between $82 and $40.65 in the last twelve months of trading and edged down $2.82 to $65.65.

Starbucks Corporation an operator of coffee houses said net revenues increased 12% to $2.5 billion for the second quarter of 2008, compared to $2.3 billion for the second quarter of 2007.

Net earnings declined 28% to $108.7 million from $150.8 million for the same period a year ago and earnings per share in the quarter were $0.15, down 21% from the $0.19 per share earned in the prior year period.

Starbucks stock (SBUX: chart) rose 48 cents to $16.72 and traded between $31 and $15.39 in the last twelve months.

Thomas & Betts Corporation, a designer and manufacturer of electrical components said first quarter 2008 net sales were $595.5 million up 25.5% compared to last year.

First quarter earnings were $0.66 per diluted share, up 5% from 2007 net earnings of $38.3 million, compared to $37.1 million in the first quarter 2007.

Thomas & Betts (TNB: chart) stock declined 57 cents to $36.89 and has traded between $64.28 and $33.26.

Willis Group Holdings Limited, an insurance broker and risk management consulting services provider reported first quarter revenues rose 8% to $795 million compared with $739 million for the same period last year.

Net income for the quarter ended March 31, 2008 was $166 million or $1.16 per diluted share, compared with $169 million or $1.10 per diluted share a year ago.

Willis stock (WSH: chart) rose $1.86 to $3.661 and has traded between $46.64 and $30.40.

Akamai Technologies, Inc an Internet technology provider said revenue for the first quarter 2008 increased 34% to $187.0 million from $139.3 million in the period a year ago, and a 2% increased over fourth quarter 2007 revenue of $183.2 million.
