Dynamex Rises 10% On Earnings

Package delivery company Dynamex expects sales in 2008 to rise between 10% and 15% and earnings between $1.40 and $1.50 a share.
Dynamex Inc, a provider of same day delivery services reported second quarter net income of $3.4 million or $0.33 fully diluted share compared to $3.7 million or $0.35 per share a year ago. Fiscal second quarter 2008 sales increased 10.9% to $112 million.

Urban Outfitters Sales Up 29%

Urban Outfitters fourth qaurter sales soared 29% to $465 million and earnings rose to $53 million.
Urban Outfitters, Inc, a casual apparel retailer reported net sales in the fourth quarter soared 29% to a record $465 million with earnings of $53.6 million. Earnings per diluted share were $0.32 for the quarter versus $ 0.21 in the comparable period in 2007. Blockbuster reported revenues increased 3.6% to $1.57 billion in for the fourth quarter of 2007 from $1.51 billion a year ago.

Longs Drug, Coldwater Creek Fall on Earnings

Longs Drug falls 15% after it reported earnings. Coldwater Creek pluges 22% after a weak sales guidance.
Blockbuster, Coldwater Creek, and Longs Drug fell after the release of earnings. Blockbuster revenue in the fourth quarter rose 3.6% and earnings increased to 50%. Coldwater Creek fourth quarter revenue declined 7% but earnings rose to $17 million from $15.9 million. Longs Drug fourth quarter sales rose 11% and earnings rose to $37.2 million.

Schroders Profit Rises 35%

Profit attributable to shareholders in 2007 increased to £303.7 million from £221.9 million in 2006 as asset under management rose to £139.1 billion.
Global asset manager Schroders reported annual revenues jumped to £1.19 billion from £967 million as income in private banking rose 11% to £105.9 million. Asset management profit before tax rose from £219 million in 2006 to £266.5 million in 2007. Schroder expanded in India and Dubai, UAE in 2007.

Cathay Earnings Soar 72%

Net profit in 2007 increases 72% to HK$7.02 billion from HK$4.08 billion in 2006. Revenue rose 24% to HK$75.35 billion.
Hong Kong’s largest airline reported 2007 net profit increases 72% to HK$7.02 billion helped by a weak dollar and rising passenger demand. Together with subsidiary, Dragonair, the carrier carried 23.35 million passengers last year. Cathay Pacific warned of a tough 2008 on rising fuel costs and increased competition.

RBS Earnings Rises 6.4%, Lowers Outlook

Pre-tax profit rose to £9.96 billion from £9.19 billion last year. Earnings per share increased to 76.4 pence from 64.4 pence in 2006.
U.K’s second largest bank said fiscal 2007 pre-tax profit rose to £9.96 billion helped by higher growth in the U.K corporate and retail banking divisions. Income gained 6.4% to £25 billion. RBS warned of a sluggish 2008 and lowered its earnings estimate for the current year. The bank has commercial mortgage exposure, consisting of loans originated for the purposes of securitization of £8.8 billion at December 31, 2007.

Big Lots Surges on Earnings

Big Lots surged after the company reported better than expected earnings and guided comparable store sales rise between 1% and 2% in 2008.
Big Lots reported fourth quarter sales decline of 10% to $1.4 billion and earnings fall of 8% to $92 million. Earnings per share rose to $1.04 from $0.94. Operating profit increased to 9.4% from 8.9% a year ago. For the year retailer reported $158 million compared to $124 million or $1.55 per share compared to $1.11. For the year sales rose to $4.74 billion from $4.66 billion.

Whitebread to Merge Units, Slower Sales

Like-for-Like sales growth eased to 5.7% from 5.8%, estimates fiscal 2007 pre-tax profit around £208 million.
The U.K hotel and restaurant group said it planned to merger it hotel, restaurants and pubs division and save £25 million per year in 2009 and 2010. The merger would be done at a cost of £35 million and has mainly been driven by weaker sales growth within the restaurants and pubs units. In the 50 weeks to February 14, Whitbread said like-for-like sales slowed to 5.7% and total sales gained 11.3%.

Dell Q4 Earnings Fall

Dell fourth quarter earnings fall on higher one-time charges and rising price competition from Hewlett Packard, Sony and other Asian makers.
Net profit fell to $679 million or 31 cents per share from $726 million or 32 cents per share in 2007. For the fiscal year 2008 revenue rose 6% to $61.13 billion compared with $57.42 billion in fiscal 2007 and earnings increased 14% to $2.94 billion or $1.31 per share from $2.58 billion or $1.14 per share in fiscal 2007. Sales in the fourth quarter rose 10% from a year ago and 2% from third quarter. Earnings in the quarter rose 6% from a year ago and 11% from the third quarter.

InBev Profit Surges 55.8%

Fourth quarter profit increased to 900 million euros from 371 million euros driven by strong sales in Latin America North and Western Europe.
The Belgian brewer InBev reported 2007 revenues increase of 7.2% to 14.4 billion euros from 13.3 billion euros a year earlier as revenues in Latin America North increased 34% and leapt 24% in Western Europe. In particular, beer volumes in Brazil grew by 5.6% and the market share in 2007 rose to 67.8%.
