10:40 AM New York – AmeriGas third quarter net loss widens and CVS second quarter net climbed 18.4%. Chesapeake second quarter net surged 90.5%. Accessories retailer Fossil soared 32%. Nuance Communications third quarter net jumped 90.6%. Office Depot second quarter net loss widens.

AmeriGas Partners, L.P. (APU) rose 14 cents to $42.83 after the propane gas distributor reported net sales in the third quarter ending in June increased 14.3% to $571.9 million compared to $470.8 million in the same period of last year. Net loss in the quarter widened to $92.7 million or $1 per diluted share compared to $10.6 million or 19 cents a share a year ago earlier.

AmeriGas expects adjusted EBITDA for the fiscal year to be in the range of $375 million to $385 million.

CVS Caremark Corporation (CVS) fell 30 cents to $44.60 after the pharmacy service provider reported revenue in the second quarter ending in June soared 16.3% to $30.71 billion compared to $26.41 billion in the same period of last year. Net income in the quarter climbed 18.4% to $966 million or 75 cents per diluted share compared to $816 million or 60 cents a share a year ago.

Retail pharmacy same stores sales rose 5.6% and pharmacy services soared 28.2% and retail pharmacy grew 6.9%.

The company expects earnings per share for the full year from continuing operations of $3.09 to $3.15 up from previous guidance of $3.01 to $3.11.

Chesapeake Energy Corporation (CHK) advanced 8.3% or $1.47 to $19.17 after the oil and gas explorer reported revenues in the second quarter ending in June increased 2.1% to $3.39 billion compared to $3.32 billion in the same period of last year. Net income in the quarter surged 90.5% to $972 million or $2.68 per diluted share compared to $510 million or $1.68 per share a year ago.

Church & Dwight Co., Inc. (CHD) declined 6.3% or $3.48 to $52.22 after the specialty products maker reported net sales in the second quarter ending in June rose 3.2% to $696.4 million compared to $674.9 million in the same period of last year. Net income in the quarter slid 4% to $79.3 million or 56 cents per diluted share compared to $82.6 million or 57 cents a share a year ago period.

Church & Dwight expected earnings per share for 2012 to be in the range of $2.41 to $2.43 and for the third quarter earnings per share of about of 58 cents compared to 54 cents from a year ago period.

Emerson Electric Co. (EMR) gained 2.8% or $1.41 to $50.35 after the technology company reported net sales in the third quarter ending in June grew 3% to $6.48 billion compared to $6.29 billion in the same period of last year. Net income in the quarter increased 13% to $770 million or $1.04 per diluted share compared to $683 million or 90 cents a share a year ago.

The Emerson revised its 2012 sales growth outlook between 1% to 2% and earnings per share between $3.35 and $3.40.

Endo Health Solutions Inc. (ENDP) increased 3.4% or $1.02 to $30.80 after the biotechnology reported net sales in the second quarter ending in June surged 29% to $785.2 million compared to $607.6 million in the same period of last year. Net income in the quarter plummeted 82% to $9.5 million or 8 cents per diluted share compared to $54.6 million or 44 cents a share a year ago period.

Endo estimated full year total revenue between $3.05 billion and $3.18 billion and earnings per share between $1.07 and $1.27.

Fossil, Inc. (FOSL) surged 32.7% or $22.66 to $92.34 after the fashion accessory designer reported net sales in the second quarter ending in June increased 14.3% to $636.1 million compared to $556.7 million in the same period of last year. Net income in the quarter climbed 11.6% to $57.3 million or 92 cents per diluted share compared to $51.4 million or 80 cents a share a year ago quarter.

Worldwide net sales rose 18.1% and North American wholesale sales rose 18.2%. Europe sales increased 14% and Asia Pacific sales rose 27.2%, and direct to consumer net sales increased 17.7%.

The accessory designer expects net sales for the third quarter to increase about 11% and for the fourth quarter increase nearly 16%. The company expects third quarter earnings per share in a range of $1.09 to $1.11 and for the fiscal year $5.20 to $5.25.

Nuance Communications, Inc. (NUAN) slipped 3.3% or 74 cents to $21.65 after the voice and language solution provider reported net sales in the third quarter ending in June surged 31.3% to $431.7 million compared to $328.9 million in the same period of last year. Net income in the quarter jumped 90.6% to $79.3 million or 25 cents per diluted share compared to $41.6 million or 13 cents a share a year ago period.

Office Depot Inc. (ODP) dropped 4% or 7 cents to $1.67 after the office products retailer said second quarter sales fell 7% to $2.51 billion compared to the second quarter of 2011. Net loss for the quarter widened to $64 million or 23 cents per diluted share compared with a loss of $29 million or 11 cents per share loss last year.

Sirius XM Radio Inc. (SIRI) increased 2% or 4 cents to $2.24 after the broadcast company reported revenues in the second quarter ending in June soared 13% to $838 million compared to $744 million in the same period of last year. Net income in the quarter jumped to $3.1 billion or 48 cents per diluted share compared to $173 million or 5 cents per share a year ago.

Spectrum Brands Holdings, Inc. (SPB) rose 13 cents to $35.37 after the consumer products company said third quarter net sales increased 2.5% to $824.8 million from the prior-year quarter. Net income for the quarter surged to $58.7 million or $1.13 per share from $28.6 million or 56 cents per share reported a year ago.

UGI Corporation (UGI) slid 1.3% or 43 cents to $30.54 after the holding company reported net sales in the third quarter ending in June surged 15.3% to $1.28 billion compared to $1.11 billion in the same period of last year. Net loss in the quarter narrowed to $6.3 million or 6 cents per diluted share compared to of $7.2 million or 6 cents per share a year ago period.
