Market indexes on Wall Street closed down after consumer spending in September registered its smallest increase in eight months. Crude oil in New York and in London gained 2%. S&P 500 index soared 8% and erased all of the summer month decline taking the benchmark to 1% increase in the year so far.

Nikkei average extended weekly gain on Friday to 1.4% and jumped nearly 9% in the month. Daiichi Sankyo and Takeda Pharmaceutical estimated higher annual sales but quarterly earnings quality were lower-than-expected. NTT DoCoMo first-half sales rose only 1.9%.

Australian market indexes declined and extended weekly losses after wholesale index increase accelerated in the third-quarter. Aussie dollar weakened. Macquarie Group reported net income in the first-half increased 58%.

AB InBev net tumbled 28%. Airbus net jumped 36% and the aircraft maker plans to sell its remaining stake in Dassault Aviation by the end of next year and buyback €1 billion of its shares. BNP Paribas net rose 15% and announced a restructuring charge of £2 billion. IAG net surged 70%.

Colgate-Palmolive net surged but revenues plunged. CVS Health lifted earnings forecast. Chevron and Exxon net tumbled. Mylan net fell 14% but revenues soared 30%. Visa is in preliminary talks to acquire Visa Europe.

ICICI Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank said quarterly profit surged. Dr. Reddy''s Lab profit soared 26%. Emami net plunged 33% but revenues jumped 17%. Nestle India net and revenues declined. L&T profit rose 16%.

Just Dial, online search engine said quarterly profit soared 47% on 16% increases in revenues. Colgate net jumped 21%. Pidilite profit surged 38%. MRF profit soared 45%. Ambuja Cements net declined 36%.

Nikkei average in Tokyo closed higher in quiet trading and industrial output in September rose 1%. Sony Corp estimated annual sales to decline less-than-expected 3.8% and forecasted net profit. Nippon Steel said first-half sales decreased 10% and estimated annual net sales to fall 11%.

ASX 200 index eased more than 1% in active trading after export price index in the third-quarter declined 5% from a year ago period. Crown Resorts acquired 20% stake in Japanese restaurant chain Nobu for $100 million.

Aetna net and sales fell. Altria net soared. ConocoPhillips net swung to a loss. Johnson Controls surged 13% but revenues decline 12%. MasterCard worldwide purchase volume in the quarter soared 12%. McKesson net and sales jumped. Teva Pharma net tumbled 88%. Time Warner net plunged 12%.
