Australian market indexes traded down after capital spending in the fourth-quarter declined 2.2%. Aussie dollar edged up for the third day in a row and commodities in volatile trading managed to close higher. Billabong first-half sales edged down. Nine Entertainment first-half revenues jumped 4.6%.

Maersk net surged 45% to $5 billion and the logistics company plans to divest 20% stake in Danske Bank. Bouygues swung to profit to €807 million. British Land signed a new £485 million revolving credit facility. Petrofac net declined 11% to $581 million. TSB net plunged 27%. Weir profit tumbled 78%.

Nikkei index in Tokyo edged lower from its recent 15-year high and the yen weakened. Mitsubishi Heavy is likely to win a large offshore wind farm order in the U.K. Sankyo declined after the pachinko game machine maker lowered fiscal year sales outlook.

Aussie dollar continue to gain for the third day in a row and market indexes turned higher after morning weakness. Construction activities eased 0.2% and wage costs rose 0.6% in the fourth quarter. Seven Group net plunged 74%. Westfield swung to a loss on a decline in revenues.
