Asian Paints quarterly profit rose 6%. BASF India and GNFC reported quarterly net swung to loss. Cairn India profit declined 33%. Kotak Mahindra net rose 23%. SKF India net jumped 26%. Wipro quarterly profit and revenue rose 8%.

Stocks in New York gained for the fourth day in a row after China reported better than expected economic data and the U.S. existing home sales rose at the fastest in the year in September. Apple and Texas Instruments advanced after reporting quarterly results.

ASOS yearly profit declined 11% to £37 million but revenue surged 27%. ARM Holdings soared 34% on 12% increase in revenues. GKN third-quarter net jumped 6% to £139 million. Whitbread first-half profit climbed 7% to £189 million.

Market indexes in Tokyo fell back after a record one-day rally in more than a year. The yen gained and the government officials clarified that the pension fund has still not decided on the allocation plan, contradicting the Nikkei newspaper report a day ago.

Australian market indexes advanced for the sixth day in a row and the Aussie dollar inched higher after China reported better-than-expected quarterly economic growth of 7%. Industrial production also surged to 8% in the quarter. Newcrest Mining eased after production fell 12%.
