ACC quarterly profit surged 62%. Castrol India net rose 13%. Emami profit climbed 16%. ICICI Bank net and revenue soared 15%. Maruti Suzuki net jumped 29% on 18% increase in revenues. Mphasis and Tech Mahindra net rose. YES Bank profit soared 30%.

Stocks in Tokyo closed higher after domestic companies reported better than expected earnings. Investors also took a positive view on the outlook for the stimulus in Europe and estimated rates in the U.S. will remain low in the U.S.

Carlyle Group net surged but revenue plunged. Eaton profit soared 18%. Hess net surged 140%. Hershey net dropped 4%. Hyatt profit tumbled 42% but revenue climbed 7%. McGraw Hill Financial declined 11% while revenues soared 10%.

Australian market indexes closed down and the Aussie dollar gained against the U.S. dollar. Commodities prices traded mixed and oil and gold edged up. JB Hi-Fi Limited soared after the company retained its sales guidance despite recent monthly sales weakness.

Deutsche Bank net swung to a loss to €94 million on litigation related charges. Fiat Chrysler net slid but revenue surged 14% to €23.5 billion. Next revised fourth-quarter outlook. STMicroelectronics net swung to profit but revenue declined 6%. Schneider revenue climbed 7% to €6.3 billion.

Dr. Reddy’s quarterly profit declined 17%. Grasim Industries net fell 8% on 16% increase in revenues. ING Vysya Bank net and revenue rose. MPS profit surged 80%. Nestle India net and revenue climbed. Sesa Sterlite profit jumped 15%. Tata Elxsi profit rose 14%.

U.S. stocks traded higher and after a barrage of positive earnings. U.S. consumer confidence index increased to a seven-year high. Durable goods orders declined for the second month in a row in September.

Aetna net and revenue climbed. Cummins net climbed 19%. Du Pont net surged 52%. Noble Energy jumped 104.4% but revenue declined 9%. Pfizer profit jumped 3% while revenue fell 2%. Parker Hannifin net climbed 15% and Whirlpool net soared 17%.

BP net declined 63.2% to $1.32 billion. Lloyds Banking Group net swung to profit to £693 million and lowered underlying profit outlook for the year. Standard Chartered plunged on impairment losses on loans and advances but net rose 8% to $78 million. UBS profit surged 32% to 762 million francs.

Stocks in Tokyo halted a 2-day rally and market indexes eased after resource sector stocks declined. Nomura Holdings reported better than expected second-quarter earnings on higher broking and trading revenues. Softbank Corp plans to invest $627 million in India based Snapdeal.com.
