Boeing won order to supply 200 planes from Ryanair. Campbell Soup swung to profit on 8% increase in net sales. GE sold its appliances business to Sweden-based Electrolux for $3.3 billion. Global Cash Access plans to acquire Multimedia Games for $1.2 billion.

Market indexes in Japan closed higher after June quarter GDP decline was worse than previously estimated. Current account surplus in July declined 30.6% on higher than expected trade deficit. Wowow Inc, satellite TV service provider soared 7%.

Bharti Airtel divested more than 3,500 telecom towers in Africa. Cipla plans to acquire two manufacturing units from Japan for Rs 100.93 crore. L&T won new orders worth Rs 1,920 crore from domestic oil and gas companies.

U.S. employers, government and private, added 142,000 jobs in August, a surprise decline after adding average more than 200,000 jobs every month for six months in a row, the Labor Department said today.
