Boeing net declined 13%. Biogen net climbed 12% and revenue soared 51%. Dow Chemical net surged 75.3%. Delta Air Lines profit soared to $213 million. General Dynamics profit jumped 4% but sales fell 1%. Johnson Controls net soared 59%. Procter & Gamble net rose 2%.

For more than six decades people in India cast their votes but rarely managed to get much in return when it came to governance, development and access to basic utilities. Congress Party remains focused on villages and offers little to urban voters as inflation ravages purchasing power.

ARM Holdings net climbed 20% to £62 million. AB Foods profit jumped 9% to £334 million and will open Primark stores in the U.S. Drax tumbled and the company plans a legal action against the UK government. Ericsson net soared 75%. Vopak profit declined 17% to €68 million.

U.S. stocks struggled and tech stocks traded down ahead of earnings from Apple, Qualcomm and Facebook after the close. Boeing reported higher adjusted earnings and lifted 2014 outlook. Proctor & Gamble reported flat quarterly sales. U.S. new home sales plunged 14.5% in March.

Toyota reported a surge of 6% in global vehicle production to 2.58 million in the quarter to March. Honda global production in the quarter increased 12.4% to 0.4 million and at Nissan rose 10.4% to 0.49 million units. Seibu surged 10% on the first day of trading.

Australian inflation in March increased from a year ago to 2.9% but trailed expectations. Market indexes closed higher 0.7% and a slight improvement in China’s manufacturing also helped. Troy Resources secured $100 million to develop a project in Guyana.

Cairn India net climbed 18% to $491 million on 16% increase in revenues. Mastek profit plunged 38% after revenue slipped 5%. Rallis India net surged 71%. State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur net climbed 33%. VST Industries profit surged 49%. Yes Bank net soared 19%.

U.S. market indexes advanced led by tech stocks. Existing home sales in March declined 0.2% to annual rate of 4.59 million and dropped to the lowest level since July 2012. Novartis announced deals worth $20 billion. Valeant Pharmaceuticals offered $46 billion for Allergan Inc.
