Australian market indexes advanced and dollar gained for the first time in two weeks. Precious metals linked stocks led the decliners. Santos Limited commenced oil production at its Western Australian basis with the target of daily production of 150,000 barrels.

Adani Enterprises consolidated net profit in the quarter surged 53% and Apollo Hospitals net climbed 27%. Dhanlaxmi Bank net swung to profit. PTC India net plunged 62% and PI Industries net jumped 6%.

Market indexes in Tokyo reversed the course after core machinery orders rose at the fastest pace in eight years in March. Hitachi Ltd gained after the company targeted higher operating margins. Leasing companies gained on the expectations that the government may favor the industry.

Autodesk first quarter net dropped 30% and Donaldson net slid 2%. Dell first quarter net plunged 79% but enterprise sales showed some strength in the quarter. J. C. Penney and Stage Stores net loss widened. Nordstrom net fell 3% and Sina Corp net loss narrowed.

Abn Amro first quarter profit declined 17% and ASDA online sales climbed 16%. Flsmidth profit for the quarter plunged 86%. Intertek operating profit margin for the quarter narrowed. SSE agreed to acquire Dunmaglass wind farm for £200 million.

Australian dollar dropped to a new 11-month low and market indexes traded higher in a choppy trading. Wesfarmers issued earnings warnings and blamed weather and excess inventories at stores. WorleyParsons cut its annual earnings outlook.

Aarti Drugs fourth quarter net soared 86% and Bajaj Holdings net rose 6%. GSFC net tumbled 75% and GNFC net declined 10%. ITC net climbed 19% and Kalpataru net plunged 14%. Motherson Sumi net edged up and Mahindra Satyam net surged. Sun TV net climbed 12%.

U.S. market indexes traded sideways and weekly jobless claims jumped to a six-week high. Tech stocks were in favor after Cisco reported strong earnings. Wal-Mart eased after the U.S. same store sales declined 1.4% in the quarter.
