India Movers: Ashok Leyland Sales Drop, P&G Net Surges

6:00 PM Mumbai 3i Infotech net swung to a loss after sales plunged 18%. Ashok Leyland October unit sales declined 15%. Punj Lloyd net loss widened but revenue jumped 13%. Procter & Gamble profit surged 21% as sales soared 32%. Wyeth net dropped 39% but sales climbed 10%.

The Sensex Index declined 264.57 or 1.3% to close at 20,974.79 The CNX Nifty dropped 64.20 or 1% to close at 6,253.15.

3i Infotech Limited climbed 3.1% to Rs 6.07 after net in the second quarter swung to a loss of Rs 97.48 crore compared to a profit of Rs 54.75 crore and sales plunged 17.6% to Rs 78.26 crore.

Ashok Leyland Limited gained 2.2% to Rs 18.45 after the company reported total unit sales in October declined 15% to 6,803 units over a year-ago period.

Greaves Cotton Limited slid 0.4% to Rs 59.75 after net in the second quarter swung to a loss of Rs 8 crore compared to a profit of Rs 34 crore and revenue slid 0.7% to Rs 448 crore.

Granules India Limited gained 1.9% to Rs 178.20 after the company agreed to acquire Auctus Pharma, a pharmaceutical ingredients maker. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the next 3 to 6 months.

The company reported consolidated net profit in the second quarter soared 87% to Rs 15.11 crore and net sales surged 51.6% to Rs 266.05 crore.

Punj Lloyd Limited jumped 2.5% to Rs 28.80 after consolidated net loss in the second quarter widened to Rs 67.08 crore compared to Rs 17.92 crore and total revenue jumped 13.1% to Rs 3,131.62 crore.

Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Limited climbed 1.8% to Rs 2,800.05 after net profit in the first quarter surged 21% to Rs 55 crore and net sales soared 32% to Rs 494 crore.

Sundaram Brake Linings Limited soared 7.4% to Rs 168.95 after net in the second quarter swung to a profit Rs 1.89 crore compared to a loss of Rs 1.89 crore and sales jumped 15.1% to Rs 61.45 crore.

Wyeth Limited dropped 2.9% to Rs 611.10 after net profit in the second quarter declined 39.2% to Rs 18.38 crore and sales advanced 10% to Rs 168.76 crore.
