The Sensex Index jumped 266.41 or 1.4% to close at 18,886.13 The CNX Nifty climbed 78.95 or 1.4% to close at 5,550.75.

surged 12.3% to Rs 168 after the company reported sales in August soared 38% to 3,204 units.
Atul’s first-quarter net profit climbed 11.6% to Rs 4.32 crore and net sales jumped 11.4% to Rs 85.53 crore.
Ashok Leyland Limited
jumped 4.1% to Rs 12.49 after the sales in August declined 24% to 7,139 units.
Bajaj Auto Limited
increased 0.8% to Rs 1,854.45 after the company said sales in August dropped 9% to 3,12,188 units.
Motorcycle sales in the month slid 8% to 2,78,583 units and commercial vehicles sales plunged 17% to 33,605 units but export sales climbed 10% to 1,44,160 units.
Hero MotoCorp Limited
slid 0.2% to Rs 2,026.80 after the company reported total sales in August grew 3.6% to 4,59,000 units.
Larsen & Toubro Limited
rose 0.7% to Rs 727.40 after the company’s construction unit secured orders worth Rs 1,141 crore in August.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited
advanced 4.5% to Rs 1,299.45 after the company said sales in August surged 61.2% to 87,323 units.
Maruti Suzuki India added domestic sales in the month jumped 51.6% to 76,018 units and export sales spurted 180.9% to 11,305 units from a year ago month.
Mahindra & Mahindra Limited
slid 1.9% to Rs 766.50 after the company reported total auto sales in August dropped 17% to 37,897 units and sales of passenger vehicles plummeted 28% to 15,821 units and domestic sales slumped 18% to 35,159 units.
The sale of four-wheeler commercial passenger and load vehicles fell 4% to 13,718 units and three-wheelers slipped 14% to 5,149 units and exports declined 9% to 2,738 units.
Mahindra Lifespace Developers Limited
gained 1.2% to Rs 406.45 after the plans to raise nearly Rs 400 crore by issue of shares to institutional investors.
Tata Motors Limited
added 0.3% to Rs 299.60 after the company stated total sales in August (including exports) of commercial and passenger vehicles declined 31% to 49,611 units.
Tata said its domestic sales plunged 34% to 44,717 units but exports climbed 12% to 4,894 units.
TVS Motor Company Limited
increased 1.8% to Rs 31.05 after the company reported total sales in August edged up 0.6% to 1,55,000 units.
Domestic two-wheeler sales fell 6.2% to 1,27,000 units and sales in motorcycles jumped 14.2% to 61,313 units and scooters sales slid 4.5% to 36,478 units and two-wheeler exports soared 40% to 21,374 units.
In the three-wheeler segment, the company said total sales soared 81% to 7,063 units and exports surged 53% at 27,425 units.
