Eaton, Hess Net Climb; Hershey and Hyatt Net Fall

12:45 PM New York Carlyle Group net surged but revenue plunged. Eaton profit soared 18%. Hess net surged 140%. Hershey net dropped 4%. Hyatt profit tumbled 42% but revenue climbed 7%. McGraw Hill Financial declined 11% while revenues soared 10%.

Earnings Review

The Carlyle Group LP (CG) declined 3.3% or 99 cents to $28.84 after the investment management company said revenue in the third-quarter ending in September plunged 15% to $755 million from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter surged to $25.4 million or 35 cents a diluted share compared to $2.3 million or 4 cents from a same quarter last year.

Eaton Corp Plc (ETN) gained 1.3% or 85 cents to $65.63 after the power supply company reported net sales in the third-quarter ending in September rose 2.1% to $5.73 billion from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter soared 18% to $602 million or $1.27 a diluted share compared to $510 million or $1.08 from a same quarter last year.

Hess Corp (HES) gained 1.7% or $1.41 to $83.36 after the energy company said total revenue in the third-quarter ending in September jumped 3.3% to $2.80 billion from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter surged 140% to $1.01 billion or $3.31 a diluted share compared to $420 million or $1.23 from a same quarter last year.

Hershey Co (HSY) slumped 3.2% or $3.10 to $92.43 after the chocolate maker reported net sales in the third-quarter ending in September increased 6% to $1.96 billion from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter dropped 3.9% to $223.7 million or $1 a diluted share compared to $233 million or $1.03 from a same quarter last year.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (H) fell 42 cents to $61.58 after the hotel operator stated total revenue in the third-quarter ending in September climbed 6.8% to $1.10 billion from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter tumbled 41.8% to $32 million or 21 cents a diluted share compared to $55 million or 35 cents from a same quarter last year.

McGraw Hill Financial Inc (MHFI) rose 1.6% or $1.37 to $87.07 after the professional information services provider reported revenue in the third-quarter ending in September soared 10% to $1.26 billion from a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter declined 11% to $190 million or 69 cents a diluted share compared to $215 million or 77 cents from a same quarter last year.
