American Eagle, Wayfair Rise; Abercrombie & Fitch, Bob Evans Fall

12:00 PM New York Abercrombie & Fitch net plunged 33% on 14% decline in revenues. American Eagle net surged 487%. Bob Evans net fell 4% but sales climbed 5%. L.B. Foster net dropped 17%. Navistar net loss narrowed. Wayfair net loss widened.

Tollbooth Index nearly fell 0.4% or 40.41 to 10,690.22.

Earnings Review

Abercrombie & Fitch Co (ANF) tumbled 15.1% or $3.59 to $20.40 after the specialty retailer said net sales in the fourth-quarter ending in January declined 13.8% to $1.12 billion form a year ago period. Comparable store sales in the quarter plummeted 13%.

Net income in the quarter plunged 32.8% to $44.4 million or 63 cents per diluted share compared to $66.1 million or 85 cents from the same quarter last year.

American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) climbed 8.6% or $1.27 to $16.09 after the teen age apparel retailer reported total revenues in the fourth-quarter ending in January jumped 2.9% to $1.07 billion form a year ago period. Comparable store sales in the quarter were flat.

Net income in the quarter surged 486.7% to $61.6 million or 32 cents per diluted share compared to $10.5 million or 5 cents from the same quarter last year.

Bob Evans Farms Inc (BOBE) tumbled 22.3% or $13.16 to $46.50 after the full-service restaurant operator said net sales in the fourth-quarter ending on January 23 climbed 5% to $357.2 million form a year ago period. Same store sales in the quarter jumped 3.8%.

Net income in the quarter dropped 4.2% to $5.9 million or 25 cents per diluted share compared to $6.2 million or 24 cents from the same quarter last year.

L.B. Foster Co (FSTR) plunged 12.4% or $5.90 to $41.59 after the steel fabricator stated net revenues in the fourth-quarter ending in December increased 2.9% to $161.1 million fro a year ago period.

Net income in the quarter declined 17% to $6 million or 4 cents per diluted share compared to $7.3 million or 3 cents from the same quarter last year.

Navistar International Corp (NAV) slipped 1.1% or 33 cents to $28.84 after the commercial and military truck maker said revenues in the fourth-quarter ending in January jumped 9.7% to $2.38 billion fro a year ago period.

Net loss in the quarter narrowed to $42 million or 52 cents per diluted share compared to $248 million or $3.05 from the same quarter last year.

Wayfair Inc (W) surged 15.8% or $3.95 to $29.20 after the online retailer reported net revenues in the fourth-quarter ending in December soared 384% to $408.6 million fro a year ago period.

Net loss in the quarter widened to $58.1 million or 73 cents per diluted share compared to $8.9 million or 22 cents from the same quarter last year.
