Commerce Bancshares, Delta Air, Walgreens Net Surge

11:45 PM New York Commerce Bancshares third-quarter net jumped 53% to $110 million. Delta Air Lines third-quarter net soared 13% to $1.3 billion. Endava fourth-quarter net jumped 13% to profit $19 million. Walgreens Boots Alliance fourth-quarter surged 87% to $1.5 billion.

Tollbooth Index plunged 524.78 or 3.3% to 15,372.37 but for the year-to-date soared 11.7%.

Earnings Review

Costco Wholesale Corporation (COST), the warehouse clubs stores operator said net sales in the five-week period ending on October 7 surged 10.3% to $13.64 billion and comparable store sales jumped 8.4% and online sales soared 28.6%.

Commerce Bancshares Inc (CBSH), the diversified financial services provider said total revenues in the third-quarter ending in September soared 10.7% from a year ago to $331.5 million.

Net income in the quarter jumped 52.6% to $110.3 million or $1.03 per diluted share from $72.3 million or 67 cents in the same quarter last year.

Delta Air Lines Inc (DAL), the airlines operator reported total revenues in the third-quarter ending in September surged 8.3% from a year ago to $11.9 billion.

Net income in the quarter soared 13% to $1.3 billion or $1.91 per diluted share from $1.2 billion or $1.61 in the same quarter last year.

Delta Air Lines said higher ticket prices in business and first-class tickets, where revenues jump 20%.

Delta Air Lines forecasted fourth-quarter total revenues growth of about 8% and diluted earnings per share in the range of $1.10 to $1.30 and pretax margin growth between 9% - 11%.

Endava Plc (DAVA), the U.K.-focused cloud-based engineering software provider stated fourth-quarter ending in June soared 42.8% from a year ago to $61.5 million.

Net income in the quarter jumped 12.8% to profit $19 million or 38 cents per diluted share from $16.8 million or 34 cents in the same quarter last year.

Fluor Corporation (FLR), the engineering services provider said preliminary revenues in the third-quarter ending in September advanced of about $4.6 billion and new awards of about $9 billion and pretax profit of about $125 million.

Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc (WBA), the drug-stores operator reported sales in the fourth-quarter ending in September surged 10.9% from a year ago to $33.4 billion.

Net income in the quarter jumped 87% to $1.5 billion or $1.55 per diluted share from $802 million or 76 cents in the same quarter last year.

Walgreens forecasted fiscal 2019 diluted earnings per share growth between 7% and 12% or in the range of $6.40 to $6.70.

Zumiez Inc (ZUMZ), the apparel, footwear, equipment and accessories said total net sales for the five-week period ended October 6 declined 8% to $77.7 million and comparable sales increased 1.2%.
