Market indexes in Sydney dropped following weak closures in Europe and in New York and consumer price index in the June quarter increased 0.7%, matching expectations. BHP forecasted lower petroleum production in 2016 but iron ore production will continue to rise.

Australian markets traded higher but the Aussie dollar dropped below 74 U.S. cents. Rio Tinto said global iron ore production in June quarter rose 9% but issued weak outlook for shipment. Woodside Petroleum second quarter revenues dropped 46%.

Crude oil, natural gas, coal and copper trade at 2015-low after Chinese stocks extended losses in the third week. The ongoing turmoil in the euro zone also weighed on the world market sentiment. Asian investors worry that European bias is propping up the euro.
