Nikkei in Tokyo plunged 2.7% after two-day holiday and the U.S. economy nearly stalled in the first-quarter. Honda dropped 7% after the automaker estimated flat earnings in the current fiscal quarter. NTT DoCoMo declined 6% on earnings outlook.

Nikkei stock average in Tokyo closed higher amid corporate earnings and Fanuc soared 6% after industrial robot maker said it plans to pay 60% of its consolidate income as dividend. Komatsu declined 6% after the company estimated operating profit to fall 8.7%.

Stocks in India rebounded and the rupee strengthened. Godrej Consumer Products quarterly net rose 13%. Kirloskar Brothers net more than doubled. RCom plans to raise $300 million through an international bond offering. Welspun net and revenues surged.

Stocks in Tokyo lacked direction ahead of central bankers meeting in Japan and the U.S. and the beginning of Golden Week holiday. Mazda Motors eased on weaker profit outlook and Mitsubishi Motors said operating profit is expected to decline 8% in the current fiscal year.

Market indexes in Mumbai turned lower and rupee dropped to a five-month low. Bharti Infratel net in the quarter jumped 18%. ICICI Bank net and revenues climbed. Maruti Suzuki India net soared 61%. Ultratech Cement net declined 24% but revenues rose 5%.

Nikkei in Tokyo closed lower on Friday but gained 1.9% in the week when the index closed above for the first time in 15 years. Exedy Corp said fiscal year net declined 23%. Mitsubishi Motors estimated first-half sales to decline 1.5%. Monex Group fiscal year net plunged 67%.

Australian market indexes jumped 1.5% on the rebound in iron ore price and tech stocks. In active trading, stocks and Aussie dollar edged higher. ResMed plunged on weaker than expected quarterly results. Mount Gibson Iron reaffirmed its annual outlook.

With corporate earnings in focus, Nikkei index closed above 20,000 for the second day in a row after fifteen years. CyberAgent said second-quarter revenues rose 29%. JFE Holdings said annual net rose 36%. JSR Corp said net gained 19% on nearly flat revenues.
