Market indexes on Wall Street declined for the fourth day in a row and metal prices fell to multi-year lows. Crude oil price extended 20% decline from the high of $61 a barrel in June and fell 5% in the week. Manufacturing sector outlook in China remained weak.

Investors in Tokyo sold stocks and focused on domestic earnings after manufacturing sector growth outlook was weak in China and overseas markets declined. Meiji Yasuda agreed to acquire the U.S. based insurance group for $5 billion. Softbank prepares for a bond offering next week.

Market indexes on Dalal Street extended losses for the second day. Wipro said quarterly profit rose 4% on 10% increase in revenues. ABB India and Biocon net soared. Axis Bank profit jumped 19%. GAIL net plunged 32%. United Spirits net swung to profit.

Anthem agreed to acquire rival Cigna for $54.2 billion. Amazon net swung to profit on 20% increase in revenues. AT&T net plunged 14% and won a regulatory approval for the proposed acquisition of DirecTV. Caterpillar net tumbled 29%. Visa profit climbed 25%.

Anglo American net swung to a loss to $3 billion. Air France KLM revenues jumped 3%. BASF profit declined 10% and plans to split its pigments business. Danone net tumbled 32% and plans to swap its Dumex infant formula unit in China. Vodafone revenues fell.

Australian market indexes traded lower and for the week the ASX 200 index declined 1.8%. Costa Group, the largest horticulture company in Australia, priced its initial offering. OrotonGroup sold its stake in Brooks Brothers Australia.

Indexes on Wall Street hovered near highs after jobless claims dropped to the lowest in last four years and lowest since 1973. Crude oil prices eased and metal prices declined after a weak price outlook for the rest of the year.

3M net rose 2% but revenues declined 5%. ABB net and revenues plunged. American Express net fell 5%. Boston Scientific net soared. Comcast net jumped 8%. Deluxe net climbed 12%. Dow Chemical net surged 28%. GM net surged more than four-fold. Qualcomm net tumbled 47%.

Australian market indexes declined for the second day after iron ore price fell and a report suggested continued weakness. Fortescue Metals iron ore shipments increased 10% in the June quarter. Newcrest Mining said June quarter gold production rose 10%.

Nikkei Inc agreed to acquire Financial Times group from the U.K. based Pearson Plc for $1.3 billion. The deal includes the publishing properties only and does not cover the real estate and the stake in the Economist publication. CyberAgent quarterly net doubled and Chugai Pharmaceuticals half-year net rose.
