Sensex in Mumbai extended rally to the fourth day on the back of a surge in pharmaceutical stocks and a rise in Coal India. Videocon d2h listed its stock on the Nasdaq and raised $325 million. Union Cabinet tightened the real estate sector regulation bill to prevent the flow of illegal financing.

U.S. stocks extended gains for the third day in a row and the dollar remained firm against the euro. Crude oil jumped for the second day and traded above $53 a barrel. India left its interest rate unchanged and Australia held rates at historic low of 2.25%. European markets surged.

Berkshire Hathaway agreed to acquire 8.7% stake in Axalta Coating from Carlyle Group. Greenbrier net surged more than three-fold. Canada divests 73.4 million shares of General Motors. FedEx offered $4.8 billion for TNT, two years after deal with UPS was scuttled. Intl Speedway net tumbled.

Ryanair said passenger traffic in March soared 28% to 6.67 million. Rio Tinto completed its buy-back of about 11.6 million shares worth $560 million. FedEx offered €4.4 billion for TNT Express.

Nikkei in Tokyo advanced 1.2% and Japanese companies are expected to offer summer bonus of 2.1%. Energy sector stocks gained after crude oil futures rose 5% after Saudi Arabia lifted prices for Asian delivery. AIT Corp, the parcel and delivery company said annual net income increased 13.5%.

Reserve Bank of Australia left benchmark rate at historic low of 2.25% and held out for an increase at the next meeting in May. Australian dollar spiked up. Leighton with its partner won a $608 million contract to build reservoirs in Qatar. Rio Tinto completed its $500 million share buyback program.

RBI left key lending rate unchanged and lifted its growth outlook in the current fiscal year. GMR Infra received ₹5,080 crore order from Indian Railways. MMTC secured coal import order from Coal India and Andhra Pradesh Power. National Highway Authority awards an order to Supreme Infra.

U.S. stocks rebounded after Fed official suggested future rate increase are likely to be gradual. Crude oil jumped 5% after Saudi Arabia increased oil price for Asian customers. Russian ruble rebounded and Real in Brail rallied for the fifth day. European markets were closed today.

Bristol-Myers plans to invest in The Netherlands-based biotech uniQure. Shanda Games agreed to go private for $1.9 billion. Ventas agreed to acquire privately-owned hospital operator Ardent Medical Services for $1.75 billion and spin off most of its skilled nursing facilities.
