Japan stocks closed down and the yen declined 0.2% ahead of bond purchase plan announcement from the European Central Bank. Softbank Corp rose following a surge in its U.S. unit Sprint Corp.

Australian dollar traded near its five-year low and energy and mining companies led the advance in Sydney. Skilled Group rejected a takeover offer. Amcor Limited said chief executive will retire after leading the consumer packaging company for a decade.

Alembic said net swung to a loss. Century Plyboards net soared 110%. Dish TV net loss narrowed. ING Vysya Bank net fell 13%. L&T Finance net surged 66%. Raymond net slid 1% but sales jumped 13%. Suzlon sold its German unit for about $1.1 billion.

Stocks on Wall Street advanced and oil rebounded. Bank of Japan reaffirmed its plan to increase monetary based while European policy makers debate the size, timing and nature of bond buying program as the euro volatile euro traded in tight range.

Amphenol net and sales climbed 15%. Fifth Third Bancorp net declined 6%. IBM profit tumbled 11% on 12% decline in revenues. Northern Trust Corp net soared 44%. Netflix net climbed 72% on increase on subscribers. U.S. Bancorp net rose 2%. UnitedHealth net jumped 6%.

ASML Holding net tumbled 37% to €304.8 million and starts share buyback program worth €1 billion from tomorrow. Alstom sales soared 10% to €1.5 billion. Metro Bank net loss narrowed. Pets at Home Group revenues climbed 8% to £182 million.

Bank of Japan reaffirmed its commitment to increase monetary base by annual 80 billion yen but lowered its inflation target on the recent plunge in oil price. Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said growth is expected to accelerate in the next fiscal year to 2.1%.

Australian indexes surged 1.6% following the advance in global markets and the Aussie dollar edged up. BHP reported quarterly production of iron ore increased 16% and also confirmed plans to cut shale oil exploration by 40% in the U.S.

Crompton Greaves secured a contract worth $26 million from Indonesia. ITC said profit rose 11%. Praj Ind net plunged 49%. Rallis net declined 16%. Tata Elxsi net climbed 29%. Zee net surged 44% but total subscription revenues slid 2%.

Stocks in New York declined and crude oil fell and gold gained. European markets advanced. IMF lowered its global growth outlook and said U.S., Canada and India are likely to sustain expansion while Russia, Brazil and the euro zone struggles and China faces a slowdown.
