German confidence improved to a 21-month high in March. French consumer prices rose and Italian and Spanish inflation in February matched previous estimates. Greek import price inflation soared and Dutch surplus rose in January.

American States Water fourth quarter net slumped to $6.71 million. Amerigon fourth quarter net soared to $6 million. Cumulus Media fourth quarter net loss swung to $13.1 million. Zoll Medical agreed to be acquired by Japan based Asahi Kasei for $2.21 billion.

U.S. and global indexes fell after China’s deficit in February surged. The OECD economic indicator index rose in January. Japan-based Asahi Kasei agreed to acquire Zoll Medical for $2.21 billion.

Stocks in Tokyo reversed the earlier gains and closed lower. Asahi Kasei agreed to acquire Zoll Medical Corp for $2.2 billion. Hi-Lex Corp estimated lower than expected net income in the quarter ending in January.

European indexes traded mixed as the euro area finance ministers meet in Brussels to approve second bailout package for Greece. Aéroports de Paris agreed to buy 38% stake in Turkey-based TAV for $874 million. Volkswagen fiscal 2011 revenue soared 26% to €159.3 billion.
